REPLICABILITY AND TRANSFERABILITY STRATEGY
LIFE PRIMED was born with the idea of setting up an integrated approach for the restoration, management and valorisation of protected areas (not only Natura 2000 sites). A large set of the methodologies developed and applied by the Project are new and untried elsewhere and the results will be evaluated for the first time. Once have demonstrated their effectiveness and reliability, these methodologies will be transferred outside the two project areas to provide a wide spectrum of stakeholders of good techniques and solutions for the conservation of Mediterranean coastal woodlands.
The transferring will mainly target actors in the Ionian-Balkan-Mediterranean region who have interest on considering and eventually adopting the Project's solutions.
At the national level, the hydraulic system established for providing additional water resources to the forest ecosystems will be transferred to Managing Authorities of other protected areas as well as to the competent ministry authorities. A similar conservation approach seems to be very suitable for the majority of the coastal woodlands of Greece, which also occur in the Aegean islands and are crucially dependent on an unreliable supply from precipitation. Also in Italy, numerous bodies and authorities have expressed their interest in the project methodologies for possible replication.
At the international level, the Project's methodologies and results will be make available to any interested party or competent authority through the project website, but also by dissemination activities, including: networking with LIFE and non-LIFE projects; newsletters and technical press releases; ToT and on-the-job training for young professionals during the works for Action C3; four technical workshops to be held in Italy, Greece and a third-country, a manual of good practices for the restoration, management and valorisation of priority habitats of Mediterranean coastal areas, scientific papers on peer-reviewed journals.
Many stakeholders have been already expressed interest on following the Project's activities, others will be engaged according with the Project's progress. These group of stakeholders include public authorities which deal with the conservation and/or management of protected areas; enterprises and private sector entrepreneurs that are related with the primary production (agricultural products, livestock and dairy production, forest products, mainly wood production from tree plantations); agricultural and pastoral associations. Their involvement in the project will be monitored in the framework of Actions D.6 and D.7. Some of these stakeholders will be interviewed (Action D6) and invited to participate to the technical-scientific meetings. They are supposed to continue operating the valorisation activities of the territory even after the end of the project.

It will be engaged in matters of citizen involvement in the dissemination of the Project among the local population, with a special emphasis on pupils and students (Action E2). The aim is to increase awareness about the SCI area and its threats among the citizens and non-residents (i.e. tourists). An adequate promotion could also favour a tourism not exclusively related to the estival season but rather of the naturalistic type (one must not forget that in the Ladispoli territory, few km from the Palo Laziale wood, lies the SPA of Torre Flavia - IT6030020). |
Municipality of Nestos |

It will be engaged in matters of citizen involvement in the dissemination of the Project among the local population, with special attention to the farmers and the users of the area (Action E2). The aim is to increase awareness and sensitivity about the SCI area and its problems as well as the understanding of the ongoing LIFE Project among the citizens and non-residents attracted through tourism. An adequate promotion could also bolster a tourism not exclusively related to the estival season (one must not forget that in the Nestos municipality, lies also the SPA of Nestos Delta and Keramoti lagoons - GR1150001) but more oriented towards the excursion-naturalistic type. |

It will be involved in the dissemination activities (Action E3) given the strong connection with, and the environmental similarities of the SCI of Palo Laziale with the Circeo’s SCI IT6040014 “Foresta demaniale del Circeo” and SPA IT6040015 “Parco Nazionale del Circeo”, thus to facilitate the transfer of the restoration techniques applied during the Project. Furthermore, Circeo NP has been associate beneficiary of LIFE REWETLAND (LIFE08 ENV/IT/000406) which had the objective of demonstrating and testing different sustainable practices of aquatic resources use upon the territory of the Latina province which is rich in natural wetlands. |
Presidential Estate of Castelporziano, Roma |

Together with the Palo Laziale wood and the woods of the Circeo National Park, it represents one of the last remnant examples of Mediterranean floodplain forests favoured by the superficial water table and characterized by natural habitats which have escaped the considerable purging interventions along the Lazio coastline during the 20th century. Hence the Estate will be involved given the strong connection with and the environmental similarities of the SCI of Palo Laziale with the SCI IT60300027 "Castelporziano (fascia costiera)” and the SPA IT6030084, and therefore to facilitate the transfer of the restoration techniques applied during the Project. We can rely on a very good relationship with the Director, Mrs. Giulia Bonelli. |

It will be involved in the dissemination activities (Action E3) due to its role as coordinating beneficiary of the LIFE PonDerat (LIFE14 NAT/IT/000544) that also aims at restoring the habitats 3170* and 5230* in SCI of the Pontine Islands’ archipelago (Lazio). Furthermore, a representative of the Direction of Environment will be invited to the meetings of the technical-scientific Committee. In fact, it is the organism that is responsible for the management of the Natura 2000 network on a regional level, and will be interested by the results of the Project and its related dissemination. |

It will be involved because it is the Territorial Coordinator of the Covenant of Mayors. The project, indeed, has a synergy with the climate change EU policy, by a set of preliminary analyses of the climatic data to quantify the effect of global climatic changes at the local level. Furthermore, the hydraulic system proposed by the Project represents a good example of adaptation to climate change, and a good option to mitigate climate change effects. A representative of the Dept. of the Environment will be invited to the technical-scientific meetings (Action E3). |

It is managed by the owners of Palo Laziale wood and mainly lead activities related to Environmental Education. The association will be able to organise guided tours in the area as well as Environmental Education activities tailored to pupils and students. This will increase the awareness of and the sensitivity towards the SCI area and its threats among the general public and the visitors. As a reference point to support the guided tours in the area with informative material, the use of the wooden box inside the SCI close to the entrance adjacent to the former train station will be considered. An integration of their role in the communication plan is of crucial importance. |

It will be involved because it represents a crucial bridge between the SCI of Palo Laziale and the local tourism sector, still stuck on the "traditional" concept. The local seaside resorts will benefit from having such a natural ecosystem in good conservation status close by. The site will be useful for facilitating a switch in traditional tourism and for mainstreaming all the correlated socio-economic benefits (sustainable and eco-oriented tourism). Furthermore, NLSR will play an important role for the engagement of many local seaside areas in the ToT training on sustainable tourism. |
