Botanists from DEB, HSPN and the Laboratory of Forest Botany and Geobotany of the International Hellenic University are closely co-operating on developing common, shared ex-situ conservation strategies for endangered flora, in particular related to Mediterranean temporary ponds (code 3170*).

Mr Dario La Montagna, a young botanist from Sapienza University, will spend three months in Drama to support the ex-situ conservation actions implemented at the University's laboratories under the supervision of Prof. Theodora Merou. All the travel and subsistence costs will be covered by a scholarship grant issued by Sapienza University. Both Mr La Montagna, and the Project Manager, Vito Emanuele Cambria, have been among the top 30 candidates out of 70 candidates admitted to a training school on “Theory and Techniques of Plant Translocation” organised by the COST Action 18201 ConservePlants (https://www.conserveplants.eu/en/training-schools/plant-translocations-2021).
